2010 UN General Assembly Review of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy
Side Event on Public-Private Partnerships to Counter-Terrorism: how the public and private sector can develop common security strategies

New York, 7 September 2010. As the leading entity of the Counter Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF) in regard to Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), UNICRI, in collaboration with the CTITF and the International Peace Institute (IPI), is organizing a PPP tabletop simulation demonstrating effective cooperation mechanisms between the public and the private sector. The side event, which will take place on 7 September 2010, is held in the margins of the UN General Assembly review of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy on 8 September 2010.

This simulation on PPP is not limited to the presentation of past achievements but it also aims to demonstrate how the public and private sector can develop common security strategies. The event will involve an audience composed by representatives of numerous United Nations Member States as well as major private sector companies.

Speakers will involve Mr. Gert de Vries, International Programme Manager of the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism (NCTb) of the Netherlands; Mr. Luis Carlos Nájera Gutiérrez de Velasco, Secretary-General for Public Safety of the Secretary of Public Safety of Jalisco/Mexico and Mr. Mikhail A. Shurgalin, Head of Section of the Department on New Challenges and Threats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
